BHV of voluit bedrijfshulp verlening is een term die we allemaal wel eens voorbij hebben horen komen. Wanneer je de gemiddelde medewerker van een bedrijf vraagt wie de BHV-er is en wat deze doet zul je hoogst waarschijnlijk een vaag of humoristisch antwoord krijgen. Maar uiteindelijk is een BHV-er essentieel voor de veiligheid van alle medewerkers van een bedrijf. Je hoeft van hen geen heldendaden te verwachten maar iemand die weet hoe hij of zij logisch en helder moet handelen in nood situaties.

Wat houdt BHV precies in?

In de Arbowet is sinds 1994 opgenomen dat elk bedrijf verplicht is om diverse maatregelen te treffen op het gebied van BHV. In de praktijk houdt dit in dat er in iedere organisatie mensen aanwezig moeten zijn met een BHV diploma. Daarnaast dienen de juiste hulpmiddelen aanwezig te zijn zoals een EHBO koffer, brandblussers, BHV hesjes of portofoons.

Wat is de taak van een BHV-er

Wanneer je een BHV diploma hebt ben je dus verantwoordelijk voor de bedrijfshulpverlening binnen het bedrijf. Er is binnen de BHV echter een belangrijke stelregel: “zorg eerst voor je eigen veiligheid”. Wanneer aan deze voorwaarde is voldaan zal de BHV-er (in geval van een calamiteit) de volgende taken uitvoeren:

  • Het verlenen van eerste hulp bij ongevallen;
  • Het beperken en bestrijden van brand;
  • Het beperken van de gevolgen van ongevallen;
  • Het bij noodsituaties alarmeren en evacueren van medewerkers en gasten.

Welke opleiding volgt een BHV-er?

Natuurlijk dient de BHV-er over voldoende kennis en de juiste vaardigheden te beschikken om eerder genoemde taken succesvol en veilig uit te voeren. Deze kennis doe je op tijdens een BHV cursus of BHV opleiding. De cursus omvat meestal niet meer dan één dag vaak in combinatie met een thuis studie onderdeel. Tijdens de opleiding doe je ervaring op met het blussen van brand, het inschatten van potentieel gevaarlijke situaties en het verlenen van Eerst Hulp. Een BHV diploma dient periodiek herhaalt te worden[M|S1] .

Kortom: Een BHV diploma zorgt voor veiligheid en kennis binnen de organisatie. Voor medewerkers is het prettig om te weten dat ze in een veilige situatie werken.
