Het blijft een gruwelijk gezicht: jouw kat die met zijn of haar vers gevangen prooi thuiskomt. Het is nou eenmaal de natuur, maar het blijft toch altijd een wat vervelend gezicht. Als jij ervoor wilt zorgen dat onschuldige vogels en andere prooien niet langer de pineut zijn bij jouw kat, zijn er gelukkig best veel dingen die jij eens kunt proberen. Niet alleen is het voor de daadwerkelijke prooi minder leuk of sterker nog: verschrikkelijk, maar ook is het voor jou geen pretje als er meerdere keren achter elkaar dode vogeltjes of bijvoorbeeld muizen voor de deur liggen. Wat je ertegen kunt doen, lees je gelukkig in deze blog. Wij geven je met alle plezier een aantal tips waardoor jij, als je ze uiteraard hanteert, ervoor zorgt dat jouw kat niet langer op zoek hoeft naar een onschuldige vogel of -muis!

Wreed, maar de natuur

We willen je allereerst graag even wijzen op het feit dat het thuiskomen van jouw kat met een prooi niets anders dan de natuur is. Wanneer jouw kat in het wild had geleefd, was deze ook niet in het bezit geweest van een mooi voer- en drinkbakje en een schone kattenbak. Houd daarom te allen tijde in je achterhoofd dat dit wel is zoals de natuur het oorspronkelijk bedoeld had. Toch blijft het verschrikkelijk als er ineens een dood vogeltje of bijvoorbeeld een dode muis voor je deur liggen, maar probeer het te accepteren en los te laten.

Voldoende vertier?

Een punt waar je wel even naar zou kunnen kijken, is de hoeveelheid vertier die jij jouw kat biedt. Katten jagen namelijk niet alleen omdat ze honger hebben, maar in sommige gevallen ook omdat ze eigenlijk toch niets anders te doen hebben. Wanneer je bijvoorbeeld zorgt voor een krabpaal in jouw huis, is de kans groot dat jouw kat niet meer uit verveling gaat jagen en daarmee neemt het aantal dode vogels en dode muizen voor jouw deur aanzienlijk af, maar onthoud: het is en blijft de natuur en die wil je niet in de weg staan!
